Configuring AAA on Cisco Routers
AAA stands for authentication, authorization, and accounting:
■ Authentication—Proves the identity of the person logging in to the
router via a username and password, token card, biometrics, and so
forth
■ Authorization—Decides what actions the user is allowed to perform,
such as accessing privileged mode or running certain commands
■ Accounting—Maintains records of what the user did during the
session, such as login/logout times and commands executed
