Configuring 802.1x Authentication

To configure 802.1x authentication, start on the WLANs > Edit page. Select 802.1x from the Layer 2 Security drop-down menu in the Layer 2 tab, as shown in Figure 6-18. After you choose 802.1x authentication, the bottom of the screen changes to show the configurable parameters for 802.1x. You can choose MAC Filtering, and the strength of WEP encryption as either None, 40 bits, 104 bits, or 128 bits.

Windows XP clients only support 40-bit or 104-bit WEP keys.


Note

802.11 standards support 40/64- and 104/128-bit keys. 128/152-bit keys are supported by 802.11i, WPA, and WPA2.


You can also configure WPA with 802.1x authentication. From the WLANs > Edit page, choose the 802.1x option from the drop-down menu for Auth Key Mgmt, as shown in Figure 6-19.
