On-net calls action amid two telephones on the aforementioned abstracts network, as apparent in
Figure 3-2. The calls can be baffled through one or added Cisco voice-enabled routers, but
the calls abide on the aforementioned abstracts network. The bend telephones attach to the network
through FXS ports or through a PBX, which about connects to the arrangement via a T1
connection. IP phones that affix to the arrangement via switches abode on-net calls
through Cisco Unified Communications Manager. The affiliation beyond the abstracts network
can be a LAN connection, as in a campus environment, or a WAN connection, as in
an action environment.
