FWSM contains a 128 MB Compact Flash, which is partitioned into six sizes for different tasks as shown in Table 4-1.

Typically, you will be working with cf:1, cf:4 or cf:5 partitions. If you set the boot device for cf:4 or cf:5, the FWSM will boot up in normal mode (application partition). However, if you set the boot device for cf:1, the module will boot up as Maintenance, which can be used to re-image or perform the password recovery for the Application partition (cf:4 or cf:5).
