Switching Path
CBAC can work on Process, Fast, or Cisco Express Forwarding (CEF) switching paths. However, CBAC works best with CEF. If there are performance issues with CBAC, first try turning off CBAC and verifying if the performance issue is caused by CBAC. If it is, turn on CBAC with process switching. This may slow down the packets, but it should work. Then turn on CEF or Fast switching and compare the performance. If CEF or Fast switching fails to provide better performance, the most likely cause is IOS software anomalies. For help with IOS software anomalies, consult with Cisco support.
