Upgrading Software Images

Upgrading Software Images

You can download the Application partition image from the same location as the Maintenance partition:

http://www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/tablebuild.pl/cat6000-fwsm

You can upgrade the Application partition in either of the following ways:

  • From the Application partition The usual upgrade procedure performed on the Application partition is by the Application partition itself. File transfer for the upgrade on the Application partition is possible with the TFTP protocol only. Use this command for upgrade:

    FWSM# copy tftp[:[[//location][/pathname]]] flash[:[image | pdm]]

The following example shows how to upgrade the Application partition from the Application partition itself:

    FWSM# copy tftp://10.1.1.150/cdisk flash:image
  • From the Maintenance Partition If the Application Partition is corrupted, use the Maintenance partition to re-image the Application partition. You can also upgrade the Application partition from the MP. The following command is used in both the re-imaging and upgrading of application partition from the Maintenance partition.

    Guest@localhost# upgrade ftp://username@server/path/image device

The following example shows how to upgrade the Application partition from the Maintenance partition:

    FWSM# upgrade ftp://username@10.1.1.150/tftpboot/c6svc-fwm-k9.1.1.0.127.bin cf:4
