Reverse DNS & IDENT Protocol

Reverse DNS & IDENT Protocol

If you can connect to the servers but need to wait a long time before the data comes back, you might run into a problem with reverse DNS or IDENTD. To work around the problem with DNS issues, be sure to allow UDP/53 to the DNS server from the destination server, provided that the DNS server is behind the PIX firewall. To get around the problem for IDENT protocol, be sure to allow TCP/113 through the PIX firewall so that the server can communicate with the client on TCP/113.
